A top US military base in on lockdown amid reports of a gunman on the loose.Emergency services have raced to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, which is home to Barack Obama’s Air Force One. The base is believed to have been carrying out a training exercise at the time of the reports.
A spokesman for Joint Base Andrews said: “JBA is currently on lockdown due to a report of an active shooter. All personnel are directed to shelter in place. The incident is ongoing at the Malcolm Grow Medical Facility. First responders are on-scene now. All personnel continue to shelter in place.”
No other details were immeditately available. Joint Base Andrews was placed on lockdown last month after a woman claimed she had a bomb.
