Boxing legend Muhammad Ali has been taken to hospital suffering from respiratory issues.Spokesman Bob Gunnell said: “Ali, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, is being treated by his team of doctors and is in fair condition. A brief hospital stay is expected. At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy.”
This comes two years after the 74 year-old was rushed to hospital when friends could not wake him. A source said at the time: “He wasn’t responding. He went to bed at night, but didn’t wake up in the afternoon or evening the next day. He was sleeping for 24 hours. They thought he might be too exhausted.”
Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1984 after quitting boxing. The three-time world champion was last taken to hospital in January 2015 following a severe urinary tract infection.
