A hospital was put on lockdown today amid fears a baby had been snatched from the labour ward.Leighton Hospital in Crewe was put under alert after a member of staff became concerned a baby was unaccounted for. The hospital was put under immediate lockdown and police were called in to ensure all newborns were accounted for.
A spokesman for Leighton Hospital said: “A member of staff raised concerns after thinking a baby was missing from the labour ward this afternoon. Cheshire Police attended and put the hospital on lockdown until the situation was resolved.
“Thankfully no baby had been taken and all newborns are accounted for. Lockdown has been lifted and the hospital is beginning to return to normal.”
