Scotland Yard officers have carried out a controlled explosion on a “suspicious” car outside the Israeli Embassy in central London.Moments before the explosion, the area around nearby High Street Kensington Tube station was evacuated.
The Israeli Embassy lies metres away from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s London residence, Kensington Palace. It is not known whether the Royal couple were at home at the time.
Whole Foods Market nearby was evacuated and police refused to let people onto the section of High Street Kensington near Kensington Palace Gardens. Commuters took to Twitter to voice their confusion over the evacuation and closure followed by a loud explosion.
