Police held a man at gunpoint this morning during vehicle searches near Schiphol Airport after he made bomb threats, according to reports.The suspect is believed to have shouted “bomb” during police checks on vehicles near the country’s main airport. Security services in the Netherlands have been on heightened alert since Friday over fears of a terror attack.
Local media said police had detained a “confused man” who was riding a bus when he took off his clothes after making the threats.
Dramatic photos showed the suspect standing at the side of the motorway with a team of armed officers pointing their weapons at him.
Police have been conducting vehicle searches near the airport, one of Europe’s largest, since last week after receiving intelligence about a possible threat.
