Police in Toronto are investigating a suspicious person on the campus of the University of Toronto. The man is reportedly armed with a rifle. The university informed students in a statement and on Twitter that many buildings have been closed on campus, and advised students to “remain in place until an all-clear is called.” An additional man was taken into custody.
A tactical team and a K-9 unit were dispatched to the area at around 9 a.m. local time. At 9:30 a.m., police received another call about “a person with a mask with a gun,” police spokesman Const. Victor Kwong said.
Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said several people on campus reported seeing a “suspicious person” dressed in black with a “surgical type” mask and knapsack, the National Post reported. One person who called 911 said the man had a gun.
