The boss of 22 bus drivers who failed to turn up to work yesterday wasn’t cross but said: “Best of luck to them.”Gareth Quinn, Area Manager for Dublin Bus, revealed that all 22 employees – 21 senior drivers and one inspector- who won the €23.8million (£19.9million) last week were not at the Broadstone depot in Phibsborough yesterday.
Mr Quinn said: “None of them were at work this morning and we’ve got no problem with that. Best of luck to them.” Other Dublin Bus drivers expressed their feelings of happiness for their colleagues.
One employee, who did not want to be named, said: “None of them are here today, they won’t be back in until later in the week. I certainly wouldn’t be here if I’d won a million quid.”
The National Lottery has confirmed that the winning ticket holder has made contact with them.
