Commuters Evacuated As Armed Police Swoop On London Train Station

A London train station was evacuated after a “police incident” this evening, sparking panic and confusion among commuters.1chaosArmed police descended on the city centre station at around 7pm and ordered an immediate evacuation of the commuter hub. ┬áConfused commuters, many of whom were waiting for a train home to Essex, wrote of panic and frustration on Twitter. One said: “Some kind of emergency at Fenchurch Street Station in London at the moment.”

Another added: “Armed police everywhere and were being evacuated from c2c at Fenchurch street – what the hell is going on?”

Photos showed rows of police cars outside the busy station – located not far from the Walkie Talkie, a popular tourist attraction. c2c Rail, who operate routes to the station, said in a statement: “Due to the police dealing with an incident at Fenchurch Street services are currently delayed.”

British Transport Police also said they were dealing with an “incident” – although did not specify. Train journeys scheduled to pass through the station were delayed, with some still remaining.
