It’s all change on Albert Square – well, if you want fish that is…EastEnders star Karl Howman, who plays jailbird fishmonger Buster Briggs, is leaving the soap. Karl has already filmed his final scenes after two years in the role; Buster arrived in 2014 as a pal of Stan Carter – and first love of his battleaxe boozehound daughter Shirley. However, that wasn’t his only connection to the family, as he was soon revealed to be the father of Shirl’s two sons, Mick and Dean.
Buster was at the heart of many of the show’s biggest storylines, including the true parentage of Mick, and Dean Wicks raping his sister-in-law and sexually assaulting his girlfriend. Recently he’s been caught up in a love triangle as he seduced and bedded willowy Kathy Sullivan behind Shirley’s back.
There were awkward scenes as the pair romped in a cheap hotel as police tried to contact Kathy to tell her that her youngest son Ben, had died. After discovering Ben was still alive, Kathy told Buster that there would never be a repeat performance of their stolen night in a Travelodge.
Digital Spy reports that fans will see Buster making his final exit from E20 in a few weeks time.
