An emergency incident was been declared on a London to Canada flight that left Gatwick Airport this morning.The flight was due to land in Edmonton, Canada, at 12.59pm local time but only two hours into the journey it made a sudden diversion. Pilots changed the course of the plane and sent out an emergency signal.
The Westjet flight WS27 is now apparently heading towards Iceland’s Keflavik International Airport. It rapidly dropped in altitude while possible dumping fuel over the Atlantic.
The flight later safely landed in Iceland shortly before 4pm and is now back on its way to Edmonton, Canada where it is due to land at 1.17pm local time.
