UEFA has threatened the FA and the Russian Football Union their teams could be disqualified.UEFA’s executive committee claimed “it will not hesitate to impose additional sanctions including the potential disqualification of their respective teams”.
It comes as two supporters were left in “critical” condition when Russian thugs stormed English fans after yesterday’s draw in the Stade Velodrome. Shocking footage emerged earlier showing Russian fans attacking the English INSIDE the stadium.
UEFA was swift to open disciplinary proceedings against Russia for crowd disturbances, racist behaviour and the setting off of fireworks towards the end of the game. But now, the governing body has gone one step further in a strongly worded statement.
It reads: “The UEFA Executive Committee has warned both football associations that it will not hesitate to impose additional sanctions. This could include the potential disqualification of their respective teams from the tournament, should such violence occur again.”
