A family barbecue turned into a bloodbath as a dad-of-three was killed in a fight over a woman.Scott Mackenzie, 41, is believed to have been stabbed after an “all-day drinking session”. The “lovely guy” allegedly confronted his next-door neighbour in the early hours of the morning in a row over a female relative.
“It’s like Beirut here,” said retired bus driver John Nicol, 66, who has lived in the same street for 15 years. “I don’t feel safe any more. I lock my door as soon as I’m in the house.” Police are investigating after saying Scott – a “hard working” ex-security firm worker – died shortly after 12.20am on Sunday in Inverkip Drive in Shotts, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Another neighbour in Shotts, as quoted by the Daily Record, said: “I heard it. It was a riot, male and female voices screaming. I was watching the telly and saw blue lights pass the window. It was the police.”
A police spokesman said: “A 41-year-old man was found to be seriously injured. Paramedics attended but he died at the scene. A post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death, which police are treating as suspicious.”
