A firefighter was killed after being run over by his own car in a freak accident.
Tommy Macaulay, 55, was crushed to death when his vehicle rolled on top of him outside a house in Scotland.
Today, his daughter Lauren paid an emotional tribute to the “most hard-working, selfless man you could ever meet”.
The cause of Friday’s accident in the Highland village of Helmsdale is unclear, but police said there are no suspicious circumstances.
The community was described as “a sad village united in grief” yesterday for one the its best-loved characters, the Daily Record reported .
Tartan Army veteran Tommy was described by daughter Lauren, 22, as “the Helmie footsoldier” .
She set up the Tommy Macaulay Book of Condolences on Facebook, which was quickly flooded with tributes and stories about her dad’s travels and exploits.
