A 71 year-old man has been killed by a lorry in a ‘hit and run’ crash outside the busy Earl’s Court Tube station.The elderly man was taken to a central London hospital where he died a short time later. Police believe they know the identity of the man, but await formal identification and confirmation that next of kin have been informed.
Police were called at about 9.25pm on September 23, to reports of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian in Earl’s Court Road. Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene.
The lorry did not stop at the scene and it is not known whether the driver was aware that his vehicle had been in collision with a pedestrian.
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are investigating. They released a CCTV image showing the lorry near to the scene. It is described as a large, white, articulated lorry, with three axles on the trailer and three axles on the tractor unit. The driver of this lorry is urged to contact police.
