Emmerdale star Roxy Shahidi has announced she’s expecting a little girl with husband of seven years Arsher Ali.
The 34-year-old actress, who plays Leyla Harding on the ITV soap, said she and Arsher had only been trying for a few weeks when they got the shock news.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Roxy said: “To be honest, I was absolutely terrified when I saw the test was positive. I burst into tears.
“We had only been trying for a few weeks and I was sure it was going to take us much longer! It took a few weeks before I got my head around it but, once I did, I was filled with joy.”
Roxy also revealed Charley Webb, who plays Debbie in the show, broke the news to her first – after correctly guessing she was pregnant.
“We had been working together and she called me when I got home and said my boobs gave it away,” said Roxy.
“Arsher also guessed too because one day I had a sudden craving for Hula Hoops, which isn’t something I’d usually eat!” she joked.
The brunette beauty met her husband Arsher, who starred as Hassan Malik in the comedy Four Lions, while they starred in a play together
Roxy said they’ve already picked out a name for their daughter.
“We wanted something quite unusual,” said Roxy, who revealed she wouldn’t be giving the name away until the birth.
“I’m dyslexic so I found looking at names hard, so I let Arsher suggest the ones he liked and we chose from them.”
