A shopping centre has been evacuated after a teenager was knifed in south-east London in front of horrified shoppers.Police rushed to Lewisham Shopping Centre after a boy was stabbed in broad daylight. Eyewitnesses reported seeing “pools of blood” around the mall, in Molesworth Street and shoppers claim they were evacuated after the attack.
One Twitter user posted: “Lewisham centre being evacuated due to a stabbing of a school boy.. what’s wrong with this world!!?” Another wrote: “Stabbing happened in lewisham. Just saw a massive air ambulance land, when will it all stop.” Photos from the scene show mounted police standing guard outside the building and a massive crowd surrounding it. The teenager was rushed to an east London hospital.
A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service (LAS) said: “We sent multiple resources to the scene including an incident response officer, an ambulance crew , two fast response cars and London’s Air Ambulance, with the first of our staff arriving in seven minutes. A male was sent as priority to a major trauma centre.”
He is said to be in a stable condition. A spokesman from the Met Police confirmed they were called to the High Street at 4.40pm on Monday, to reports of a teenage boy who had been stabbed.
