ITV hit show Loose Women is in chaos with backstage backstabbing, frothy topics and dumbed down panelists, according to reports.Katie Price is thought to be behind the show’s havoc with producers fearing more panelists will quit after the Sherrie Hewson sensationally handed her notice in after 14 years. A source told The Sun On Sunday : “There is an undercurrent of real anger, especially with Katie being given a regular role. It is in meltdown.
“Some of the stars and TV staff worry Katie is unpopular with viewers and brings the show into disrepute. Some of the more experienced presenters think Sally [Shelford] has made it too tacky. Although despite the fury backstage viewing figures have never been better, with a million more people tuning in every day.
The show appointed a new editor Sally Shelford in December from gossip magazine Now and insiders say she is swerving heavier topics in favour of lighter segments. Recent topics on the show include twerking in heels and cupping live on air.
A source added: “They are saying it has lost its focus on politics and issues like domestic violence and become too frothy and focused on low-rent celebs. Loose Women won loads of awards from 2008 to 2010 but they seem to have dried up – and people are genuinely worried about its direction.”
