A mother is being held on suspicion of murdering her seven-year-old son as tributes poured in for the schoolboy. 44-year-old Lesley Speed was arrested after police found the body of her son Archie Spriggs at the family’s semi-detached home in Church Stretton, Shropshire.
The Charity shop worker left a chilling message on Facebook just days before the tragedy, posting: “The girl who seemed unbreakable, broke. She dropped a fake smile and whispered to herself, I can’t do this anymore.”
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the horror. Diane Pye, head of Rushbury CoE Primary School, where Archie was a pupil, said she was “deeply saddened” by his death, adding: “Archie was a wonderful, bubbly boy and a much loved member of our school.”
