This evening, for the first time perhaps ever, the BBC soap concluded on a happy note.  Linda Carter brought a touch of Christmas magic to Albert Square by transforming it into a winter wonderland by decorating it with trees and colourful lights and the entire population of Walford appeared to step out and soak up the sight.

Then Linda and Mick’s little boy Ollie then took his first steps – a moment the couple feared would never happen.  However, the happy ending left those tuning in at home suspicious. Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Everything’s always so happy in eastenders during the lead up to Christmas but once Christmas Day hits u know someone’s gna die xxx.”

Another then posted: “That was an unusually happy episode, which means the Christmas drama is about to begin.. #eastenders.” Moments later, a different viewer commented: “#eastenders being all lovely and twee and happy . . . can only mean impending death and carnage.”

Boy, 11, Dies In “Tragic Circumstances” At Home – Police Investigating

ambulanceAn 11-year-old boy has died in tragic circumstances at home just days before Christmas, according to police. Relatives of the youngster, whose death is not being treated as suspicious, found his body this morning, police say.

Medics rushed to the house in Cork, Ireland at around 8pm last night and attempts were made to revive the boy. He was then taken to Cork University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Forenisc examiners are searching for clues at the home, which has been sealed off.

A senior police officer said: “We are treating this as a very sad personal tragedy. It is absolutely terrible to think that something like this can happen to someone so young and it is particularly poignant when it happens Christmas week.”

Little Boy “May Never Speak Again” After Drinking Drain Cleaner In Supermarket

1biyA mum fears her son may never speak again after he swallowed drain cleaner in a supermarket. Saira has now launched legal action against the manufacturer, Active Brand Concepts Limited, and the owners of the Claremont Road shop SAFA Superstore, where the incident happened.

Ayman was just two-and-a-half years old when his mum Saira says he picked up the bottle from a shelf at SAFA Superstore, in Moss Side. The youngster drank the liquid, which contained caustic soda, while his mum’s back was turned. The toxic substance caused severe burns to his mouth, airway, oesophagus and stomach and left him fighting for his life in intensive care.

Ayman was rushed to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital where he spent a month in intensive care. He spent another five months on a general ward where doctors inserted a permanent tracheostomy tube into his neck so he can breathe. He also has a feeding tube in his stomach to enable him to eat.

1downPolice are hunting the man who grabbed a seven-year-old girl with Down’s Syndrome by the hair before throwing her into the road.

Sky Preston was walking hand-in-hand with her dad Alan Dale, 34, when the man, who was wearing a black baseball cap, approached them from behind. Her father said the stranger then grabbed Skye and threw her to the ground causing her to bang her head and scrape her hands and knees.

The incident happened about 11.15am on Friday as she left Sunderland’s Eye Infirmary. The offender is described by police as a male in his early twenties. Alan said: ‘I was holding her hand at the time, but he just came up, grabbed her, and threw her into the road and shouted at her. It was just the shock of her falling over.’

Harry, 32, and the 35-year-old Suits actress, who started dating over the summer, were reportedly joined by just one royal minder. Earlier in the week, they were seen buying a 6ft-tall Christmas tree in Battersea as they got into the festive spirit.

A friend said: “Harry has said his privacy is important to him but they are clearly not afraid to be seen in public together.They are clearly crazy about each other and have told friends they are very much in love. As an actress Meghan loves the theatre so this was an obvious date to go on.”

Street Stabbing Terror – Man Rushed To Hospital After Horror Attack

ambulanceA man has been taken to hospital after he was stabbed on a busy street. The male, 26, was seriously injured following the incident which happened earlier this afternoon at about 1.45pm in King Street, Bathgate, West Lothian.

The man was treated by emergency crews at the scene and has since been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in West Lothian are currently in attendance following an assault in King Street, Bathgate. The incident happened at around 1.45pm on Tuesday, December 13.

“A 26-year-old man has sustained a serious injury. He was treated by the Scottish Ambulance Service at the scene and has now been taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. Inquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.”

BREAKING: Motorway, Airport Spur Road Closed In Both Directions After Police Incident

1m56Manchester Airport Spur is closed in both directions due to a man seen on the wrong side of a motorway bridge. Traffic is on diversion with congestion building up to Wythenshawe.

As a result of the M56 closure, National Express services are not calling at Manchester Airport and there are severe delays around the area.

Stagecoach are warning all services around Manchester Airport are delayed and Highways England are also warning of disruption. Traffic leaving the airport is also affected.

Death Of Weatherman Ian McCaskill Announced

1ianFormer BBC weather forecaster Ian McCaskill has died aged 78, his daughter has confirmed.  Kirsty McCaskill said her father had been living with dementia for the past five years and passed away on Saturday. She described him as a “lovely man” who brought “sunshine to people’s lives”.

McCaskill, who retired in 1998, was recognised for his Scottish accent and known during his career for his exuberance and enthusiasm for anticyclones, warm fronts and isobars.

He became the most imitated BBC TV weather forecaster during his 20 years presenting weather for the corporation and even had his own Spitting Image puppet.

Horror As Man ‘Stabs Train Commuter” – Chases People Shouting: “I Want To Kill A Muslim”

crash1A man has reportedly been stabbed on a train at a station in London before chasing people outside with a knife. Commuters say the man was stabbed at Forest Hill in south London while the attacker “ranted on the streets”.

One woman wrote that a man had ‘just stabbed another man” before he “chased people outside the station with a knife.” Another witness said the attacker was screaming “some mad s**t” during the attack. A large emergency service presence is at the station.

One eyewitness said the attacker “held a knife against a lady in a headscarf and asked: “where is your man?”. Police later said a man had been arrested after a person had been “seriously assaulted”.

A British Transport spokesperson said: “We are currently at Forest Hill railway station, after being called to a serious assault at 1.18pm. One person has been arrested on suspicion of GBH following the incident and is currently in police custody. One man was treated by ambulance staff at the scene and is currently en route to hospital.”

Tragedy As Schoolboy, 15, Killed Cycling To Shop To Collect His Own Birthday Cake

115A 15-year-old boy died when he was knocked off his bike as he went to collect his own birthday cake. Nahid Islam was pronounced dead after being hit by a motorcycle in Belsize Park, north London, on Saturday afternoon.

His heartbroken family revealed the teenager was on his way to pick up a cake for his 16th birthday party the following afternoon. Dozens of friends gathered for a vigil near the junction where he died and there is now a sea of flowers, candles and birthday balloons.  Police said the uninjured biker stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.

His older brother, Sunny Rahman, a 21-year-old student, told the London Evening Standard : “He was the best little brother, he was loved by everyone. No-one would had a bad word to say about him, never once saw him angry in his entire life.”
