The scorching summer isn’t over as Brits will be blasted with hot air blown in from Europe.Sun-loving beach-goers are set to bake in sweltering temperatures of 30C, hotter than 28C Barbados. The sizzling sunshine is set to arrive on Tuesday for a three-day heatwave as a Spanish Plume moves in – but with a Bank Holiday sting in its tale.
Weather experts had toned down last week’s forecast after the heatwave failed to arrive, but now forecasters are confident temperatures will skyrocket. Tuesday will reach 27C, followed by soaring temperatures of 30C on Wednesday and Thursday.
Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze said: “Autumn will be followed by summer as the mercury soars to around 30C in midweek.” Bookies Ladbrokes has slashed its odds on the hottest day of the year, beating July 19’s sizzling 33.5C.
But the blistering heat comes with a backlash of violent thunder storms, weather experts have warned. MeteoGroup forecaster Julian Mayes said: “The Spanish Plume has a clear signal for a thundery breakdown on Thursday, with the Bank Holiday weekend looking quite unsettled, particularly in the North, with a south-westerly flow.”
