Terror As Brakes Fail On Funfair Ride – Passengers Plummet To Ground, At Least 12 Injured

Twelve people have been injured after a vertical ride plummeted to the ground when its brakes failed.1tiviThe ride, which is designed to drop in a controlled way, hurtled to the ground at Tivoli World in Benalmadena, southern Spain. Witnesses said the ride was falling to ground at a much quicker than usual speed before coming to an abrupt halt half way up.

Staff managed to the reach those on the ride, who were clearly having no fun and the fair, and free them. The emergency services rushed to the amusement park when the incident was reported.

The cause of the incident is being investigated with it being suggested the ride’s braking mechanism had failed. Several people were treated for whiplash-type injuries and anxiety attacks.

Tivoli World is the largest family attraction on the Costa del Sol with more than 300 rides.
