A toddler was crushed after a wall fell on him during a shopping trip yesterday afternoon.The three-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital with multiple injuries after the incident at Frank’s Flooring Store in Darlington. Paramedics from the Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA) were called to the scene and police closed off the surrounding area.
Gazette Live reported that the area remained shut until air ambulance arrived and medics helped the boy.
“Great North Air Ambulance Service were called to assist North East Ambulance Service with a three-year-old patient who had been crushed under a wall,” said a spokesman for GNAAS.
“The child was treated on scene by the paramedic and doctor team before being flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for further treatment.” The spokesman added that the boy had suffered multiple injuries including to his pelvis, chest and abdomen.
