Tributes are being paid today after the death of one of the stars of the Sound of Music was announced.Charmian Carr, who played Liesl Von Trapp in the Sound of Music has died at the age of 73. The American actress’s representative said she had passed away following complication from a rare form of dementia. Her family confirmed that she had died in Woodland Hills on Saturday
Charmian is well known for her performance of the song Sixteen Going on Seventeen in the hit musical, which became one of the highest-grossing films of all time. Following The Sound of Music, she only starred in one other film, Evening Primrose, before starting her own interior design company. Her clients included the later Michael Jackson amongst many other celebrities.
Charmian was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1942 and moved to the San Fernando Valley with her parents when she was 13. She is survived by her daughters Jennifer and Emily and grandchildren Emma, Derek, William and Tucker.Following her death, 20th Century Fox paid tribute to the star on Twitter, writing: “The Sound of Music lost a beloved member of the family w/the passing of Charmian Carr. She will be forever missed.”
